Michelangelo was the son of a poor gentleman of Florence. At school the boy's best energies were devoted to drawing. A patron of the times Lorenzo de'Medici gave the gifted student a room in his house and a seat at his table. From this generous seed developed the man who would grace the Sistine Chapel and come to be recognized as the most brilliant representative of the Italian Renaissance. |
